My name is Megan, I am 34 years old, and I live in a city called Cleveland, Ohio. I have been born, raised and lived here my entire life. Today, June 20, was known and celebrated across the United States as the First Day of Summer. Here in Cleveland, Ohio, it is being known and celebrated as something different: History. Until yesterday, June 19, 2016, our city has been known for, and referred to, as many things. Unfortunately most of those things were not pleasant. People constantly referred to our city as “the mistake on the Lake” or an Analog City in a Digital world. Sure, like every place, there have been some things that have occurred here that were not great. Continue Reading
Good day blogland! It’s Monday, and I’m PMSing and cranky so I thought I would vent a little steam on a subject that has, at one point or another, annoyed and angered us ALL: Driving. Or rather other people and things on the road while we are driving. Continue Reading
When the daily Post Prompt hit my Inbox this morning it made me LAUGH!! The word is: embarrassing, which is ironically a word that probably half of my acquaintances would use to describe me. In “honor” of that, I thought I would regale all of you with one of the more embarrassing moments that I had at work. Continue Reading
I’ve had this piece in my Drafts folder for a week now, and have rewritten it at least as many times. It started as factual and sappy, and I’m hoping it settles on enlightening, funny & sincere with only a hint of sap. What caused so much drama in my life that it took me a WEEK to blog about? It was the milestone of my youngest kiddo Aria graduating Preschool. Now pick your butt off the floor and stop laughing! I’m NOT (exactly) mourning the end of preschool. Rather, I’m trying trying to properly honor one of the most underestimated occupations out there: Schoolteachers. Specifically “special education” preschool teachers and Paraprofessionals. Let me ‘splain.
I talk a lot on here about how my mom’s side of the family is VERY Sicilian, and I tend to neglect talking about dad’s heritage. My grandpa on my dad’s side had the last name of MacDonald, which made our heritage mostly Scotch/Irish & German on that side of the family.
A week ago I started to blog about my chaotic childhood (Raised in Chaos… 7 Females = NOISE) with SEVEN women under one roof, leaving my poor daddy the lone male. Then as usual, I went off on a tangent. Well now we are BACK!
Quick recap: My parents had four GIRLS in 4 YEARS (of which I am the oldest)! Not only that, but by age 8 both of my widowed grandmothers moved in with us, making SEVEN women in our home. You can just imagine how the Estrogen and hormones did flourish (there’s our Daily Post prompt) in our home. To those of you dealing with a teenage daughter, IMAGINE FOUR at ONCE. Yep, the poor adults dealt with the raging hormones of FOUR PUBESCENT girls. Continue Reading
OK gang, I’m going to put a bit of a Public Service Announcement out there. I like to write funny, but there is something that has been happening too much lately, so I please ask you to read this, and pass it on. I’m not a doctor, just an observant, intuitive, “different” person who wants to be understood.
On a personal note to those who know me in real life I offer this blog as an apology since I know I can be all over the place, and you may not always understand why I do things, or where I am coming from. Hopefully this little insight into “different” will help you see where some of us are coming from.
